Abstract

Introduction: The study of coexistence in school environments usually starts from subjective notions that account for various pedagogical measures for conflict resolution. However, it is essential to review the internal relationships between the different forms of manifestation of violence by educational actors. Objective: With this premise in mind, the present text analyzes the interaction between the different typologies of violence that prevail in the school and the management for coexistence by implementing a correlational analysis, in order to identify possible relationships and how these elements can impact on the implementation and encouragement of a peaceful school environment in the institution. Methodology: The study responds to a quantitative, descriptive correlational cross-sectional approach. A psychometrically validated instrument was applied to 114 students of the educational institution Luis Flórez Tierradentro in Líbano-Tolima (Colombia). Results: Among the main results, there is a strong relationship between the typologies of violence, whose dynamics directly impact the forms of social interaction and adherence to promotion and prevention strategies for school coexistence. Discussion: The analysis highlights the need to strengthen school coexistence strategies, given the disparity between student perception and the effectiveness of current interventions against violence. Conclusions: Seen in this way, the research concludes that it is vital to include in the intervention analysis, an empirical basis that allows to know in depth the diverse ways in which violence is externalized in the educational context.
