Abstract
The skin is the outermost part of the body that is susceptible to bacterial infection. Therefore the skin requires a preparation that effectively kills bacteria such as liquid soap. Bandotan leaves are plants that have been known to contain antibacterial properties. The physical properties of liquid soap are affected by the HPMC and castor oil used. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of varying the concentration of HPMC and castor oil needed on the characteristics of the 96% ethanol extract liquid soap formula of Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L) and to determine the optimal composition of castor oil and HPMC in the optimum formula for 96% ethanol extract liquid soap. Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L) using a factorial design method. This study used bandotan leaf extract, which was prepared by maceration extraction method using 96% ethanol solvent. Statistical test results obtained <0.05, namely 0.004 for PH, 0.035 foaming power and 0.045 Viscosity, so it can be concluded that variations in the concentration of HPMC and castor oil affect the characteristics of the liquid soap formula with 96% ethanol extract of bandotan leaves.
