Abstract

The Internet of Things is a groundbreaking development that makes it easier to integrate physical and smart devices, transforming a number of industries with increased functionality and productivity. However, the ubiquitous nature of IoT systems also brings significant security challenges, requiring robust measures to protect these networks. This paper delves into the field of IoT security by conducting a comprehensive review of prominent methodologies aimed at strengthening the security posture of IoT networks. The effectiveness of two main architectural paradigms, namely centralized and distributed, in addressing security concerns in IoT environments is analyzed and evaluated. To increase the level of security, a new approach using Python scripting with the Scapy library is proposed. Using Scapy’s advanced capabilities, this script aims to detect and flag potential intrusions into IoT networks, thereby increasing the resilience and overall integrity of these interconnected systems. The goal of this multidisciplinary study is to gain a better knowledge of the rapidly growing topic of IoT security. It brings into discussion perspectives and practical solutions to reduce risks and strengthen the robustness of IoT system implementations.
