Abstract

The article presents, a novel hybrid Pattern Search (PS) and Modified Differential Evolution (MDE) computational method is employed for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) problem of deregulated multi source power system with Tilt-Integral-Derivative (TID) as a secondary controller. Primarily, different control strategies are initiated to tune the gains of TID controller. Then, DE algorithm is modified in terms of step size and crossover probability to improve the performance and effective scheme. In the next step, PS technique is employed to get the best tuned value offered by MDE. After that, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) Devices are incorporated for further improvement in the results. At the end, sensitivity analysis is performed under varied conditions and the effectiveness of the proposed controller is examined for various random load changes.
