Abstract

This paper discusses the meaning of the auleteres repeatedly appearing on pre-Roman Iberian iconography between the late 3rd century BC and the early 2nd century BC. Those women-always depicted as young aristocrats-act as specialists in the intergenerational transmission of social memory, ethos and cultural patterns, within the framework of ritual scenes.
