Abstract
This paper examines the various factors contributing to food spoilage, including microbial growth, enzymatic activity, and environmental conditions. Microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and moulds play a significant role in the deterioration of food quality, leading to spoilage and potential health risks. Additionally, intrinsic factors like pH, moisture content, and temperature, as well as extrinsic factors such as packaging and storage conditions, influence the rate of spoilage. The study also develops effective strategies to prevent food spoilage, including proper storage techniques, use of preservatives, and innovative packaging solutions. By understanding the underlying causes of spoilage and implementing targeted prevention methods, we can enhance food safety, extend shelf life, and reduce food waste.
