Abstract

LoRa is a new technology platform for Internet of Think (IoT). LoRa was first developed and launched by Semtech Corporation in 2015. The presence of this technology provides a choice of wireless systems in addition to Wifi, bluetooth and GSM networks as infrastructure in Internet of Thinks. IoT is an information network that can connect various kinds of sensor and control equipment through the internet, with intelligent communication between connected equipment. The IoT system allows objects to be censored or controlled remotely through an access network thus creating an opportunity to directly integrate various physical objects into a computer system. IoT connectivity especially in embed devices has stimulated the creation of various intelligent systems that affect people's daily lives. This paper provides a comprehensive literature review on LoRa and its potential application to develop rural areas in Indonesia. Applications include smart agriculture, smart environments, smart flood sensors, water systems monitoring, healthcare, industrial control and data communication in rural areas.
