Abstract
Medroxyprogesterone acetate was administered to six patients with the polycystic ovary syndrome. The drug resulted in a significant reduction in serum LH, plasma concentration and plasma production rate of testosterone in each patient. In addition, five of the six patients showed significant increase in the metabolic clearance rate of testosterone. This study also confirms previous findings by others of an increase in serum LH in the syndrome. © 1972 by The Endocrine Society.
