Abstract
Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation presents a solid basis to be indicated for the treatment of Autoimmune diseases. In this work data related to the procedure and the sequence of events which have contributed to the implantation of a Brazilian protocol are discussed. Included is a discussion of the autogenic procedure using uniform mobilization regimens with Cyclophosphamide 2g/ m 2 plus granulocyte-colony stimulation factor and particular conditioning for systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis and multiple sclerosis. The formerly described entities were chosen for the beginning of a cooperative protocol after wide-ranging debates which took place both in Ribeirão Preto and San Francisco, USA.
