Abstract

Erythema nodosum is a multi-etiological syndrome and the most frequent clinico-pathological variant of panniculitis. The disorder is a cutaneous reaction with symmetrical, tender, erythematous, warm lesions, usually affecting the anterior aspect of lower extremities. Infections are the main etiology; although multiple causal agents have been identified, pathogenesis is still unknown. Treatment should be directed to the underlying etiology if identified.
