Abstract

Pressure ulcer reduces patient quality of life, increase the cost for the period of hospitalization and health care systems. Pressure is the key factor for formation of pressure sores. Factors affecting the formation of pressure ulcers are intensity, duration and tolerance of pressure on tissue. Nursing care is essential in the prevention of pressure ulcers. Therefore, implementation of nursing care should be evidence-based practises which are risk assessment, skin care, changing position, training and using support surfaces. The purpose of this article is to share evidence-based practice for prevention of pressure ulcers, power of evidence and effects of this practice.
