Abstract

This research presents the results obtained from the evaluation of the carbon footprint generated by the production of aggregate building materials derived from limestone, carried out in a company in the municipality of Toluviejo - Colombia. This study was developed applying the Publicly Available Standard 2050 (PAS 2050) carbon footprint assessment methodology, which determined that in the production of 1 m3 of Gravel, Crushed, Gravillon and Washed Sand in this company, about 9.68; 21.58; 17.00 and 14.57 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent per cubic meter (kg CO2 Eq/m3) are emitted into the atmosphere, respectively. Also, in this work is the characterization of the productive process of limestone aggregates and derivatives in the mining district of Calamarí - Sucre.
