Abstract

This work reports the results of the corrosion behaviour for materials typically applied for the fabrication of mounting assemblies of photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Here, the corrosion characteristics of commercially available hot-dip Zn-coated steel sheets was compared with that of Magnelis® type steel coating. Electrochemical experiments involved comparative assessment of their corrosion properties by utilizing linear polarization and impedance spectroscopy techniques, under the variable concentration of Na2SO4 supporting solution, pH and dissolved oxygen content conditions. Surface and cross-sectional morphology, and elemental composition evaluations of metal-coated electrodes were performed by using SEM and EDX spectroscopy techniques.
