Abstract

The NESHAP which is a new environmental regulation dictate that the chemical strippers most commonly used today should be abandoned and replaced either with more environmentally friendly compounds or with other stripping techniques. In view of this new regulation, the course that paints are taking poses much less controversy. Several aircraft manufactures such as Beech Aircraft and Cessna Aircraft are now using high-solid paints for the production of new aircraft. However there is one disadvantage of this paint type which is its inability to work well with high-volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns or electrostatic systems. With this, NESHAP is seen as a threat to the aviation industry.
