Abstract

With the advent of bigger and faster mobile plant came the associated problem of serious and often fatal accidents that continue to occur with alarming frequency. Because of this, there is constant pressure to improve efficiency, at the same time as achieving higher standard of safety. To achieve this goal, there are bigger and better machines with sophisticated aids. To support these advances, operators must be of the right caliber for the job and, importantly, they must be fully trained, and understand how to use the equipment and how it functions.
