Abstract

From an analytical framework this paper studies the perception theory posed by Andres Bello in his Filosofía del Entendimiento. The principal aim consists on elucidate the elements which make up and built up the perception process. In this sense, the procedure is supported by the chapters and appendix analysis related to the perception issue which are in the first part so-called “Psicolojía mental”. According to these, the concepts of soul, spirit, conscious, sensation, intuition, reference or judgement, and impression are analyzed. Methodologically, strategies and resources provided by language analysis from the philosophical frame are the tools used for this work. Finally, the conclusion points out that the Andres Bello perception theory involves a sort of collaborating job from several sub-process such as intuition, sensation, and reference or judgement, and that is claiming as fundamental the soul or “self” unity and indivisibility as well.
