Abstract
Contains papers presented at the 48th Nottingham University Easter School in Agricultural Science, April, 1989, on the use of remote sensing to monitor crops. Reviews achievements of remote sensing in agriculture, establishes current state-of-the-art and looks at future developments. Addresses the following themes: opportunities for remote sensing; principles of remote sensing as applied to agriculture, including logistic considerations and fundamental spectral considerations of vegetation; estimation of biomass and productivity; effect of stress and its detection; discrimination and its monitoring; and new techniques in remote sensing application.
