Abstract

The discontinuities produced by tectonic activity have a controlling influence on rock strength and hence an understanding of their origin is essential to the study of engineering geology and geomorphology. These structural features are expressions of regional rock deformation processes ultimately controlled by global-scale plate tectonics.-from Author
