Abstract

This paper presents a general overview about colors and light related to chemical compounds. In a first approach, it is introduced a brief discussion about colors and light and how they manifest and interact with our vision. Thus, it is described how colors are formed from organic and inorganic compounds and it is also discussed how luminescent compounds function. The main aim of the work is to work with basic concepts of chemistry in a practical approach, in way to make this paper an introduction and an experience to the world of colors in chemistry.
