Abstract
A new type of fluorescent compound, 5,5'-di(4-pyridyl)-2,2'-bithienyl, has been synthesized and its fluorescence intensity measured at 510 nm in a 40% aqueous methanol (pH<3.0) with excitation at 425 nm. The quantum yield was found to be 0.52. The thienylpyridine skeleton was found for the first time as a new fluorophore.
