Peran Kolonel Barlian dalam Peristiwa Bumi Hangus di Bengkulu

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the impact of Colonel Barlian's policies on the scorched earth event in Bengkulu. This study involves doing a comprehensive literature review by gathering data from several sources. The main data source for this study is a book named "Mendahului Semangat Zaman." The data gathering methods used in this research included the utilisation of library techniques. Data analysis approaches use methods such as data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The research findings indicate that Colonel Barlian played a significant role in the scorched earth event in Bengkulu. As the military leader in Bengkulu at the time, he held the authority to make decisions regarding all military strategies in the region. Given the impending Dutch invasion, Colonel Barlian opted to implement a scorched earth movement in order to impede their arrival in Bengkulu.
