Abstract

Rural areas have experimented with meaningful socioeconomic transformations in recent decades. These areas are multifunctional spaces characterised by new activities where heritage is an essential resource for territorial development strategies. The evaluation project design requires the identification of the value of each asset. The object of the study is the proposal for a cultural heritage evaluation method formed by three specific systems that quantify an asset's patrimonial interest in tangible, intangible, and landscape terms. The methodology is organised in a hierarchy based on multiple indicators and includes the implementation of participative actions. The verification of the viability of this method has been carried out in about 30 assets in the Huerta of Cortes de Pallás, a rural municipality in the interior of Valencia in Spain. Among the technical and participative results, a valuable heritage stands out, and a social consideration of the rural environment is demonstrated. The integral application of the method confirms its validity and viability as an effective tool for heritage management that can be carried out by organisations.
