Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find and describe the types of illocutionary speech acts and conventional implicatures in Covid 19 memes on social media. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with document collection techniques and interactive analysis techniques on 30 Covid 19 memes found on social media. After the researcher analyzed the Covi 19 memes, the writer concluded that some of the Covid 19 meme discourses contained conventional speech acts and implicatures. 1) The types of speech acts found, namely assertive speech acts include two functions of speech acts, among others: the function of informing and the function of stating, directive speech acts include four functions, among others; commanding function, requesting function, suggesting function, and inviting function, expressive speech acts include three functions of speech acts, among others: the function of criticizing, the function of humoring, and the function of complaining, commissive speech acts with one function, namely the function of threatening speech acts, declaration speech acts with one function of the speech act forbidding. 2) Conventional implicatures found in the Covid 19 meme discourse are orders, statements, innuendos, prohibitions, humor, invitations, and complaints.
