Abstract

In The Netherlands, interest in socioeconomic inequalities in health has grown enormously over a relatively short period. Two national research programmes on socioeconomic inequalities in health, the first focusing on explanation and the second on interventions, illustrate the fact that Dutch policy-makers and researchers have made a systematic effort to come to grips with this issue.
