Abstract
This article presents an overview of the development of agri-food system inthe world, the disparity in productivity and income the long terme downwardtrend in international agricultural prices, the world agricultural divide andits conséquences in terms of poverty and malnutrition. Given thissituation of poor farmers itanalyses what should be the components of aneffective policy development.
