Entwicklung der Frequenz und des Spektrums von Rettungsdiensteinsätzen in Deutschland

Abstract

Background: The reporting for several states in Germany has shown continuously increasing numbers of emergency medical services dispatches for many years. Objectives: The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how the numbers of dispatches and range of emergency medical services have increased over the last few years. Materials and methods: Based on a literature search, this paper summarizes qualified publications to provide a comprehensive overview of the current findings. Results: A complete survey of the numbers of emergency medicals services for several states and extrapolations of those numbers for all of Germany show annual growth rates of about 5%. In addition, several surveys show an increase for nontraumatic emergencies. The increase in numbers of emergency medical service missions and the changes in the deployment spectrum can be traced back to, among other factors, demographic change. Conclusions: In order to address the increase and change of the demand for emergency medical services, it seems expedient to create alternative emergency medical services (e.g. telemedicine) along with the extension of existing structures. This should be accompanied by comprehensive data collection and evaluation in order to enable ongoing adjustment of the system referring to quality management.
