Abstract

Urticaria is one of the more common skin conditions seen by physicians. Physical agents are an important cause of urticaria, with pressure or shearing forces being the most common. Dermographism is due to a combination of pressure and shearing forces and is present in a large number of healthy individuals. The purpose of this article is to provide a review of dermographism and its clinical variants. © 1984, American Academy of Dermatology, Inc.. All rights reserved.
