A geological framework of Alaska.

Abstract

Much of Alaska is geologically complex and difficult to interpret because of the lack of continuity from one area to another. It was not until the recognition that large-scale motion of small fragments, or terranes, had occurred that it began to be possible to make any sense of the overall geology of Alaska. This led to the definition of tectono-stratigraphic terranes and their recognition in many other parts of the world.-Authors
