Abstract

A high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the separation of 8-glucosylrhein, sennosides A, B, C, and a new compound, sennoside G, was established. The extraction of sennosides from senna was also investigated. Sennosides, extracted from senna or pharmaceutical preparations, were directly injected and separated using a Permaphase ODS column or a Lichrosorb Rp-18 column, and the sennosides contents in Sennae folium pulv., Sennae folium, and pharmaceutical preparations containing sennoside Ca were determined. © 1980, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
