Abstract
Ellen G. White is a founder of the Seventh-day Advent Church. During her life, she wrote many books about healthy foods implicated towards health and faith in religion. Ellen G. White’s teachings advises, her followers to consume healthy and nutritious foods, as well as prohibits food consumption which is able to disturb health. In fact, it proves that it affectes toward happiness, physical, spiritual, and emotion. Regarding the background of research above, the purpose of this research is to know the doctrine of Seventh-day Adventist Church on food according to Ellen G. White. her in which doctrin is contradicted with the Protestant churches generally. This research use Theology Normative approach and it is kind of library research. There are two methods used in this research. First, descriptive method, which the researcher used in describing Advent Church, history, structure, evangelism, and Ellen G. White as well as her teachings in the doctrine of food. Second, the analysis method, in which the writer use it to analyse the doctrine of food, with religion and nutritionist view on food. The study of the doctrine in the Seventh-day Adventist Church on food in Ellen G. White’s view resulting some conclusions. First, food has best element of nutrition on human health, based on Bible’s rules. It sourced from natural plant such as fruits, grains, vegetables, and all earth products. Second, plants subtances selection is prepared in simple and natural. Third, while condition of healthy food is food rules basically on Old Testament, benefits on human health, nourishing, balanced nutrition, and worship improvement. On other hand, false consumption is consuming hot foods, great quantities, fast eating, eating coincides of drinking cold water. Fourth, kinds of food permitted according to Ellen mentioned before. There are other food types, such as bread, cake, puddings, eggs, milk, cheese and fruit juice beverages. These foods provide health, affect the good behavior, and easily obtained among the poor man. There is kinds of prohibited food consumption such as tea, coffee, meat, tobacco, alcoholic beverages (beer and wine). She believed that meat causes some fatal diseases for the human body, like tuberculosis, cancerous germs, and fatal diseases toward the entire organs of human body.
