Abstract

Some barriers to equality in employment persist. Particularly important in this respect is the relaxation of rules on non-standard contracts. The implications of working at home are explored. While the systematic nature of inequality in employment has not been confronted, structural adjustment can help to increase flexibility in employment to the benefit of men as well as women, employers and society as a whole. The nursing profession, part-time work, and time-use and unpaid activities are dealt with separately. -D.G.Price
