Abstract

Topical glucocorticoids are the most widely used therapeutic agents for the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases. Twenty years passed from the discovery of the basic structure of cholesterol, a precursor in the biosynthesis of all the steroids, until the first topical steroid was used in 1952.
