Abstract

Research in Science of Physical Activity and Sport has been influenced primarily by quantitative procedures adapted from other areas of knowledge. The emergence of new paradigms, research methods and procedures offers us as more possible combinations of tools for the analysis of physical activity and sport that can enrich the entire research process. This paper introduces the mixed methods (Mixed Method Approach) using examples of various studies. These methods combine quantitative and qualitative data in the same study. This new methodological approach has taken hold strongly in the past decade given the current need for a more integrated approach to the investigation of human movement.
