Abstract
A major international study, properly designed and executed, could establish whether the population differences that seem to exist in prevalences of SLE are real and whether or not these differences, eg, in black and Chinese groups residing in different parts of the world, depend upon varied genetic constitution or whether they reflect environmental influences. The noninfectious environmental influences that should be considered are toxic and dietary ones.
