Motivos de rejeição dos artigos nos periódicos de administração

Abstract

Resumo Os índices de rejeição dos periódicos de administração clamam pela análise dos motivos que levam editores e revisores a rejeitarem artigos submetidos. Este artigo investiga quais as lacunas mais frequentes nos artigos submetidos aos periódicos das áreas de “administração, ciências contábeis e turismo”, que podem conduzir à rejeição. Metodologicamente, o estudo empírico foi sustentado por dados coletados por questionário feito com 82 editores-chefes de periódicos, questionando-os sobre quais motivos os levam a rejeitar artigos em desk review e quais os principais aspectos que seus revisores apontam como motivos para a rejeição dos artigos que avaliam. Os resultados revelam que a contribuição científica é um dos principais fatores para conseguir a publicação do artigo, e que o método é a seção que tende a apresentar mais problemas. Analisamos os resultados e discutimos implicações no debate sobre produtivismo acadêmico, proveniente do “publish or perish”, proporcionando uma perspectiva abrangente dos cuidados a ter para conseguir a publicação.Abstract The high rejection rates of papers submitted to management journals warrant an analysis of the motives underlying why reviewers and editors recommend rejecting papers. This article investigates what are the most common flaws in the papers submitted to journals of “management, accounting and tourism” that may lead to rejection. Methodologically, this study relied on data collected by survey to 82 scientific journal chief-editors questioning the editors about the motives that lead them to reject articles in desk review and which are the key factors that their reviewers point out as reasons for the rejection of the articles. The results reveal that contribution is one of the crucial factors for achieving acceptation, and that the method is the section that tends to have more problems. We analyze the results and discuss their implications to the debate on academic productivism, providing a perspective on aspects to attend towards having the paper published.
