Abstract

Purpose: The general purpose of this object is to discuss the current background of the transition to the "Circular Economy", in the context of the implementation of "Industry 4.0", through its interrelationships. Method/design/approach: The method used was a systematic review of the literature through a selective search in the CAFe database (federated academic community) from CAPES journals, in the search "Subject," that includes all the available search bases. Results and conclusion: The theme "Industry 4.0" as a vehicle for the "Circular Economy" is innovative, and in development, which reflects in the small number of forty-one articles selected by the proposed criteria of systematic literature review in the period from 2015 to 2021. Research implications: Although the concepts and analyses presented are discussed in the articles selected by the inclusion criterion, it is necessary to advance to the practical implementation of "Circular Economy" together with "Industry 4.0", both for solutions in socio-environmental harmony and for the innovative and socially responsible economic appeal. Originality/value: The systematic review of the literature contributed to identify the trend in the literature in relation to the association "Industry 4.0" as viable for the "Circular Economy". The theme is recent, and in development since the latter requires advanced tools for its implementation.
