Emissions and ecological factors are evident in changes of dynamics of global forest ecosystems. Specific development takes place in these substitute stands on contaminated and devastated plots. The aim of this study was to solve a problem if forest stands were able to indicate its real natural potential in these anthropogenically influenced conditions. In ten substitute stands on experimental plots samples were taken in autumn 2002 from H-horizons and A-horizons and phytocoenological relevés were taken in the area of the firm Městské lesy Trutnov (Poříěský hřbet Plateau, 530 m a.s.l.; +6.9°C; 671 mm). A hypothesis that the combination of herbaceous species can significantly indicate pH/H2O and pH/KCl was tested.
