Abstract

The article explores the relationship between the trajectory of Capistrano de Abreu in search of a place for itself in a specific social space, and the path in search of Brazil and the Brazilians. The goal is to understand the question proposed by Capistrano about the formation of Brazil as a nation, considering the link between historiography and ethnography at the turn of the 19th century.
