Abstract
This chapter will first examine the research on persons with mental retardation's understanding of Miranda and the relevant personality characteristics that make persons with mental retardation more vulnerable in interrogation situations. Second, the authors provide suggestions for the forensic evaluation of individuals with mental retardation, and conclude with suggestions for changes for policy and practice in the criminal justice system.
