Abstract
Design of side spillway caused helicoidal flow. The flow increases the hydrodynamic load on the spillway structure. To prevent this condition, the flow direction channel must be designed with a maximum flow speed of 4 meters/second. Design of the depth flow guide channel is considered to control the flow velocity that occurs so this research is carried out on its influence. In this study, numerical modeling was carried out because it has advantages, time efficiency and research costs. Numerical modeling using the OpenFOAM program because it is an opensource program. Data that required are dimensions, discharge, and water level of previous studies. This study aims to obtain model sensitivity parameters, analyze numerical models of experimental models based on water level profiles, analyze the relationship between the ratio of dam depth and the depth of the flow direction channel to its hydraulic parameters. The results show that the numerical model with OpenFOAM has good performance. That matter indicated by the average RMSE value for each simulation, which is 0.996 and the NASH coefficient value is 0.074. The most sensitive parameter is the mesh density. The ratio (H/P) affects the water level profile above the crest. If the ratio (H/P) getting smaller, then the decrease of water level getting bigger. If the ratio (H/P) getting bigger, then the decrease of water level getting smaller. Abstrak Kata kunci: saluran pengarah aliran, pelimpah, pemodelan numerik, OpenFOAM.
