Abstract

The media has been in charge of disseminating information related to climatic and meteorological phenomena, as well as increasing the number of researches investigating how the themes related to climate, weather and their behavior, have been presented by the media (newspapers, magazines, radio, internet, television). Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the news related to the hydrometeor (rainfall), in the region of Bahia’s semiarido, from 2012 to 2015 period, published by two newspapers with a great circulation in the State of Bahia (Correio da Bahia and A Tarde). We observed that most of the news reported the expectation of rain and, generally, they highlight that the population misery is directly connected to the climatic phenomenon. The adjectives used by the media to the climatic events are depreciatory and negative promoting a wrong concept about the region’s climate.
