Abstract

Introduces three book reviews found in the current issue of Families, Systems, & Health. Authored by S. S. Mittelman, C. Epstein, and A. Pierzchala, Counseling the Alzheimer's caregiver: A resource for healthcare professionals (2003) gives an excellent evidence-based approach. W. R. Beardslee's Out of a darkened room: When a parent is depressed, protecting the children and strengthening the family (2002) presents a model of therapy for families when the threat to the family and the challenge to the therapist is severe and debilitating parental depression. L. A. Savett's The human side of medicine: Learning what it's like to be a patient and what it's like to be a physician (2002) compiles a lifetime of wisdom systematically chronicled by Dr. Savett.
