Abstract
Fatty oils including those of Cynthia, Heliocidaris, Pseudocentrotus, Pentacta, Comanthus, Ophioplocus, Mitella, Onchidium, Chicoreus, Cellana, Nerita, Monodonta, Lunella, Turbo, Tegula, Thais, Calliostoma, Barbatia, Pecten, Cryptoplax, and Nereis were extd. and the unsaponifiable matters were investigated. Δ5,7-Sterol content was calcd. from the extinction coeff. at 277, 282, and 290 mμ and existence or nonexistence of 24-methylenecholesterol was detd. from infrared spectrum. Sterol in Cynthia karasboja, Heliocidaris crassispina, Lunella coronata, and Tegula argyrostoma exhibited ultraviolet absorption at 255 mμ. Batyl alc. was isolated from Pentacta doliolum and crude 24-methylenecholesterol and clionasterol were isolated from Pecten yessoensis. It was confirmed that sterol in Nereis japonica was essentially cholesterol. [on SciFinder(R)]
