Abstract

Castilla y León is a rural region with a very sparse population of about 2,560,00 inhabitants. Special healthcare challenges arise due to this regions’ very aged population and large dimensions. A theoretical model of services of Telemedicine is proposed to make easier the planning of future projects. It is aimed to show the requirements and benefits of such services. Moreover, a teleradiology trial was carried out in order to obtain realistic information about the impact of Telemedicine applications on healthcare professionals and users. © 2000, Sage Publications.
