Abstract
Discusses the basic principles of research design, together with elementary concepts of the analysis of variance. Simple one-way and two-way analysis are presented, together with details of the underlying models used, and the hypothesis testing techniques. The use of ANOVA for the identification of variance components at differing spatial scales is discussed.-A.C.Armstrong
