An error in the total natural forest cover loss area estimate for South and Southeast Asia has led to an incorrect natural forest aboveground carbon (AGC) loss estimate for this region, and incorrect natural forest cover and AGC loss totals for the entire pantropical region. The natural forest cover loss area estimate for South and Southeast Asia changed from 52% to 56% of gross forest cover loss (from 18.9 to 20.5 Mha), and annual natural forest AGC loss changed from 48% to 61% (from 167 to 210 TgC yr-1). The pan-tropical natural forest cover loss area estimate changed from 55% to 56% of gross forest cover loss (from 77.5 to 79.1 Mha), and annual natural forest AGC loss changed from 58% to 62% (from 588 to 631 TgC yr-1). Gross forest cover and AGC loss estimates are correct for all regions. Corrections do not affect the overall conclusions of the paper. We apologize for the inconvenience and provide an updated version of tables 3 and S2, and paragraphs of the text citing previously incorrect numbers. Corrected numbers are bold underscored.
