Retraction Note: Fostering Cultural Innovation in the Digital Age: Unveiling the Competitive Edge of Dialect Group Culture

Abstract

Dialect group culture encapsulates the essence of distinctive regional identity, values, and perspectives, culminating in a rich cultural heritage unique to specific communities. Over time, this heritage has become an invaluable asset, contributing significantly to group identity, cohesion, economic growth, and harmonious societies. However, amidst the evolving landscape of industrialization, urbanization, and modernization, dialect group cultures encounter challenges posed by emerging digital paradigms. While rooted in tradition, these cultures also drive innovation, wielding the power to advance group dynamics. This study aims to construct a comprehensive model for the transmission of dialect group culture, ensuring its sustainable preservation in the digital era. Drawing from a 2018 survey on the daily interactions and cultural legacy of the Wenzhou Manhua dialect group in China, we employ a multifaceted analytical approach to explore the intricate relationships between group cultural environments, interactions, and cultural transmission. Our findings reveal that while the direct impact of group cultural environments on cultural transmission may be modest, certain factors, such as leisure space accessibility, wield significant positive correlations. Importantly, our study underscores the substantial indirect influence of group cultural environments on cultural transmission via the conduit of group interactions. Notably, improved access to leisure spaces and public cultural facilities fosters more frequent dialect group interactions, reinforcing cultural practices and catalyzing cultural transmission. Additionally, urban–rural social mobility and cross-dialect marriages emerge as pivotal factors, exerting both direct and indirect impacts on cultural transmission via their influence on group interactions. This study emphasizes the pivotal role of designing group leisure spaces, fostering public cultural amenities, and nurturing dialect cultural ecosystems to enhance community governance, cultural prosperity, and the formation of harmonious communities.
