Contra o comunismo demoníaco: o apoio evangélico ao regime militar brasileiro e seu paralelo com o endosso da direita cristã ao governo Bolsonaro

Abstract

Resumo: Desde 2015, evidenciou-se na Câmara dos Deputados uma coalizão entre direita cristã e bancada da segurança. A eleição de Jair Bolsonaro à Presidência em 2018 foi considerada, por alguns autores, um reavivamento de 1964. Dentre os principais integrantes de seu bloco de sustentação estiveram os evangélicos. A aproximação é inédita? Mais precisamente: o posicionamento das lideranças religiosas reformadas e pentecostais sobre o regime militar (1964-1985) se relaciona às posturas políticas da direita cristã hoje? Pretendendo adentrar nessa questão, o artigo revisa a literatura sobre o tema e conclui fazendo paralelos entre o processo iniciado com o golpe contra Goulart e o da segunda década do século XXI, identificando a retórica anticomunista como o traço de continuidade entre os diferentes momentos históricos.Abstract: Since 2015, a coalition between Christian right and security bench has become evident in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. Some authors considered Jair Bolsonaro election in 2018 a revival of the military regime (1964-1985). Evangelicals were in his support block. Is this approach unprecedented? More precisely: is the position of Reformed and Pentecostal leaders about the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) related to the political postures of the Christian right today? Intending to get in this issue, the article reviews the literature on the subject and concludes drawing parallels between the process started with the coup against Goulart and the second decade of the 21st century, identifying anti-communist rhetoric as the trace of continuity betwixt the different historical moments.
