Abstract
Marriage is a sunnah (recommended practice) with the purpose of forming a family that is harmonious, loving, and compassionate. It also serves the function of regeneration through procreation. The minimum age limit is regulated in the process of marriage, specifically for early or underage marriages, to ensure that the marriage can achieve its intended goals and avoid psychological and health problems. This is often the subject of study by several experts. However, they do not discuss the issue of marriage between elderly individuals. Ideally, in old age, with age classification, many aspects need to be reevaluated in relation to the purpose of marriage, which is to form a family that is harmonious, loving, and compassionate, as well as capable of bearing children. The focus of this study is the psychological impact on women who marry at an advanced age and the medical implications of late marriage for both men and women. This is a library research with a qualitative and multi-approach descriptive analysis, including psychological, sociological, and health science approaches. The findings indicate that ideally, marriage should be entered into by both parties during the ideal marrying age so that the marriage can fulfill its purpose and urgency, namely, being harmonious, loving, and compassionate, and serving as a means of procreation. Additionally, it helps to avoid various problems, both psychological and health-related, that are closely associated with the fulfillment of both spouses' obligations.
