Abstract

(2007) studied the effect of operational and environmental factors including recirculation ratio, BOD/N ratio, and temperature on the nitrogen removal performance of two recirculating sand filter-upflow anaerobic filter systems treating septic tank effluent. (2007) investigated a new process, which combines chemical coagulation, biological degradation, and particle pelletisation and separation in one unit, for onsite wastewater treatment in a pilot-scale fluidised bed reactor. The relative performance of five configurations of on-site or communal filter and constructed wetland wastewater treatment systems was studied over 17 months in various climate conditions (Martin and Anderson, 2007).
